2D Peer to Peer Game Modeling Evolution in My Online Biology Class

2D Peer to Peer Game Modeling Evolution in My Online Biology Class

I am considering building an online peer to peer game modeling processes of evolution, especially natural selection. I am an online high school biology teacher with no experience in building games. I am happy to settle for a 2 dimensional board. I teach for an online school who should be willing to help me in hosting it. My class would be divided into predators and prey at a 1:10 ratio. The objective of of predators would be to pursue, catch and eat the prey in their surrounding coordinates. The objective of prey would be to survive until they can mate, and to successfully complete a punnet square representing the genes of them and their mate. (My dream is for prey to also have to attract mates using various signals they could click on which could be witnessed from a larger coordinate field with the signaler in the center of it). Obstacles for predators would be placed in the coordinate field. To make sure there are enough players, we would play for an hour a day. My class size is 200 students big. I could imagine an average of 20-50 might actually participate that hour.
1) Does something like this already exist?
2) Are there volunteers who would be willing to help me build it- it is for a good cause?
3) How could I build it?
4) How many hours could it take a person with no experience building it.
